Wahine Disaster.

 Hello...

In the pass week our class have been focused and been busy with our disaster task, this task basically is all about New Zealand's history disaster. Each of the disasters had very interesting and sad stories. On our learning task we were told to create a slide show showing disastrous times and events of each disaster.

It took me quit some times to gather together thoughts on which disaster story I should work on,then minutes I finally starting studying on the Wahine disaster. Gathering facts and events of this story was quit an adventurer of sorrow and also interesting details.

Here's my two day of work efforts of this slide show.

2020 PrEP

 Good morning everyone

In the pass few weeks our entire school has been absolutely busy due to our prep projects, business and communities along with lots of amazing outside jobs. One of the jobs was being a banker all they have to do is count students prep money and hand them their money for market day. Other jobs includes being a warehouse, their duties are to buy items or resources for business groups and then deliver it to them. Their are plenty more than one job in our prep community, for myself I have been busy living up to the duties of a prep police.

Police Duties.

Prep polices job and duties are to ensure every student is on the right page of work and also to award students with the attitude of being on task and doing the right thing.

Being a police is also hard to manage due to other students misbehaving and not using manners towards myself and other police, but through time we learnt to cope with it and to continue doing our job.

On the first market day which was little market it was given notice to all Totara hub that no Totara students were allowed to buy any projects mainly caused by some difficult situation which includes burglary money from the bank. They were allowed to on big market though.

Although it was an unexpected news me doing my job, I was not stopped so dealing with it was a piece of cake. I continued doing my job for little market and saw such amazing projects. After that we all went back to our head quarter and discussed any reports, turns out there weren't any and the pressure was lifted.

I continued on doing my job for the few days until it reached Friday where all Totara students were finally allowed to buy amazing projects. We started walking down towards the market area and begin doing our jobs, and honestly I was quite speechless of all the well built projects. On that same day I decided to take a break and bought myself a calendar with images of stitch and lilo and bought gifts with lucky candies in it and shaped chalks.

Iceberg paragraph

One of the activities that we did including finding out facts about the giant iceberg called A68A which will be sailing towards south Georgia and with the size of an island here's my paragraph

Numeracy: Life bills!!

For the pass the 2 n half weeks, me along with Totara 3 and Totara hub were busy with our pretend life. Meaning we have to endure all the pain that every adult go through... Life bills. At the start of the week our teacher gave two piece's of paper, there was the big paper that includes Debit or pay,credit/I earn/Receive,Balance. Those category of life were the one who will either give us our money balance, paying something like groceries taxes and more, and your income. Our second paper was a very small size that includes creating our family. With those families we also had option of weather having vehicles and pets.

At first me, starting a new fake life was amazing and got a hold of lots of money, but going through each weeks it started going up and down, until the very end which I became broke and started doing adepts. Through out the pass few weeks this activity taught us how to use money properly and it also taught us that we should be ready and prepared for any problems later on in life.  Money as a Social Technology | The Daily BlogPaper Money Definition

Current event quiz. NASA.

Today our class have participated into another current event quiz which by the way our group has once again got 11 points. Throughout so many of my blog post about NASA discovery one of today current event gave me a shock for minutes or so. It was an unbelievable and a interesting quiz question.

Through out NASA journey out in space with all the planets discovery it was then that all the uncompleted work of discovery has been unsealed, one of the discovery of most planets also includes the moon itself. Scientist discovered the moon in 1610. And with their discovery, they only managed to unseal the surface of the moon and its secret, but later on discovered water of on moon's depths in 18 august 1976, a spacecraft called soviet Luna landed on Mare Crisium. They later on discovered water and then took it back to earth. In February 1978  the team later on published that laboratory analysis of these samples shown they contains 0.1% of water.

Japan to release treated Fukushima water into the sea | News | DW | 16.10.2020

Over the past few years there has been so many examples of chaos in our world happening everyday. One of them includes Japan's nuclear. Fukuyama Japan happened to be affected by a nuclear reactor, which has also affect lots the pacific's sea's and islands by the radiation. The nuclear affected the area of Fukushima since 11 of march 2011 caused by a major earthquake which caused a 15 metre tsunami, disabled the power supply and cooled of three of Fukushima daiichi reactors and that's when the radiation began to destroy lots of Fukushima parts which has also effected all three cores melted in the first three days.

People from Japan and some of the worlds helpers has been preventing the cause of radiation by contaminated water which has since cooled down the destroyed reactor blocks from further meltdown. And it has been currently stores in large tanks but are expected in 2022.

Probability of sports/basketball.

WALT: Use a tree diagram to find all possible outcomes and make predictions

Today for maths our class worked out probability for sports, we had to make either a group of 3 or partners. Before we made our DLO we also got to play a game where we used a dice and probabilities of which number it will land on.

This is our DLO about basketball.

Mussels Facts

Last week me and T3 dissected mussels in our class for facts and information about these sea creatures and how they survive where they live. Some can be on the shores or in deep water. Not only did we dissect the poor creature but we created a diagram mainly including about parts of a mussel. We learned so many new things about mussels thanks to Mr B. It was amazing learning facts about mussels. As Mr B was teaching us he also explained to us that our specific diagram about a dissected  mussels was also one of our activities on our school camp to Mistletoe bay

Here is one fact.

In order for mussels survive, they must gather food and oxygen from the water. They do this by drawing water in through their in current siphon, moving the water over their gills, and then passing the water out through their ex current siphon.
Here's my groups diagram.

After reading some books and work, Mrs Costello told us about an activity that we can do, which is what we did last year with you,  which is photo zoomed in,basically taking a photo that zoomed in and trying to guess what the photo actually is. And so we did, it took me like 4 minutes.

Hints.

My kiwi report.

Kiwi report

Kiwis are flightless and extraordinary birds which are native to New Zealand only.  They are known for their adaptations which are like mammals. This makes them outstanding creatures.  Its main adaptations are behaviour and structures.

Kiwis have two main behavioural adaptations which they developed long before humans came to their land.  They became flightless and  nocturnal creatures.

Kiwis are nocturnal birds which means they come out at night. They are also flightless and live on the ground because their main predators many years ago were only hunting birds who also flew..

A kiwi has developed some structural adaptations to suit their habitats  too.

They have whiskers at the base of their beaks  to help them get around in the dark. They also have nostrils at the end of their beaks to help them to find food.

The brown feathers of a kiwi helps them blend themselves from danger in the forest from predators.  Kiwi have small feets but have extraordinarily strong legs and long beaks to get food.

Many kiwis adaptations have no longer been effective  on other creatures, due to the arrival of humans in Aotearoa. A long time ago kiwis used to have wings, birds and other animals used to strive to get food, by competing against each other to get food, but there weren't any so kiwis started to live on land knowing that there weren’t any predators, but when humans arrived so did predators.   Rats, stoats and weasels came with humans.  They are also nocturnal and live on the ground so they hunt kiwi and also eat their eggs.

I think kiwis are one of the most extraordinary creatures I've seen yet.  Kiwis have made their choices to live on land a long time ago, but when their predators came, they still stood up and fought to survive.  We should look after our kiwis because they are native to our cultures and to Aotearoa/ New Zealand, if we dont look after them they might go extinct.

Scientific sketching

This week me and my class were focusing  on scientific Sketching of plants,I did this plant, which I still have no idea the name for this plant. But luckily just a look and I've already got lots amazing facts.
This plants stem, is stronger from the bottom but lighter as it goes up. On the stem it grows white small hair, used to reflect sun to keep the plant cool. The colour of the leaves are green on the top but the bottom is mixed with white and green. It is about 0 cm  to 26 cm for the height in reality.

The wonderful of oz

                                 120 anniversary
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Alma Books

This morning me and my class were doing some quizzes, and we came across a quiz for this show. I used to love this show of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, so Mrs Prendergast suggested that we could do a blog post of any of the new things we learned this morning.  This is what I learnt...

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a movie loved by children, it was released in August 25, 1939. It is based on a book that was first published on May 17 1900 so it is is the 120th anniversary of the wonderful wizard of oz!  It was written by L Frank Baum.
