The history of the Jack 'O' lantern

 

Yesterday the 31 of October we had our Halloween and also celebrated our teacher's birthday, Miss Costello. It was fun. She gave us four activities and so we did them. It was really enjoyable and fun at the same time. One of my favourite activities was the Jack 'O' lantern, or as I call it ,the mandarin lanterns because it was a mandarin and we use sharpies to draw spooky faces to make it look like a Jack 'O' lantern. After our drawing and our video which is in Riley's blog post, I hope......  and our video also came with the history that me and Riley read. The original jack-o'-lanterns were carved from turnips, But the Jack the one who made the Jack 'O' lantern founded that carving a pumpkin  is easier. He created it and put it around his farm and all sorts of places to scare of the evil spirits. And it worked!

Today Wednesday the 27 of November 2019 me and my family celebrated my mums 45 birthday. My older sister told us to go to a restaurant so we went there,the place was called Australians well part hotel. It was fun and the food was delicious I had a beef bugger and the others well I don't really know because I was too hungry to only think of ordering my food. We enjoyed it.

Hi i’m Junior and today I'm going to be talking about why schools should do


Athletics sports and if your wondering what it is? It’s when you get to do races high

jump and stuff like that . And here are some of the reasons that I’m going to be talking about.


Athletics sport day is great for children because they get healthier

when they play and they get fitter. And you could become stronger.


Having athletics sports is just simply fun for everyone it’s not just

about winning and stuff like that it’s also for you to have some

fun in the outdoors than

just sitting in class and getting frustrated in doing so much work.

It’s good to get some fresh air and hanging out with your friends.


In athletics it’s not just you that's going to be racing and of course your going to be


Having people with you to compete, and not just competitors with also people and friends that's going to be supporting you to just do your best. Some of them will be laughing but not in a mean why like supporting you. And don’t worry you can have a turn and laughing at them too.


Be happy when your doing activities in athletics don’t be sad have a laugh be happy and all good things to make you smile. Don't be paranoid because you have to do it. Just be happy about it some kids out in the world that don’t want to do it and does not do it. Your lucky!


Playing athletics can really be fun so enjoy your time don’t just stand there and do nothing enjoy being around your friends and doing the activities. Enjoy looking at your friends race too.



In athletics its can be really challenging sometimes but it's also good because you get to learn so many new things that you didn't know about your friends and the activities. It can make you sad,mad,cry,happy and emotional. But guess what it's part of life and natural





I love doing athletics its fun enjoyable and challenging and being with my friends for hours and hours. It makes me happy and makes me want to win every activity it's just great for our bodies and our health.

What I learned in term 3

In term 3 I have learned so many things in our class by our teacher.

One thing that I enjoyed is geometry because it included art and also lots of maths.

This term me and the cast has also been a part of the show the amazing adventure of super Stan.

class has learned about Japan. And today
I’m going to be telling you about what
I learned in Japanses learning.

Japan Capital City 

In Japan they have a capital city
that’s called 

Tokyo, and in the city I learned that not
only that they have one language in the
billboards

but they have 3 writing, hiragana,
katakana and kanji.

on it, its  really cool!

Japan Population 

Japan’s population/people that live there are   126,860,301 people  that lived there. This is there Flag

How many Languages does Japan speak 

Well, for some of yous that think that Japan can
speak many languages, but really they only speak
Japanese and a little bit of english, and schools in
Japan are learning english.

Where is Japan.nearly the same as New Zealand.

In Japan houses people have beds in the living room and they can turn into a dining room, well  a sitting area and anything else, and they also have a small chicken. But nowdays they have spaces for their own bedrooms some have big kitchen and there own dining room. 

Japan is located on the east side of the earth,
nearly close to China. Japan is When you go to Japan on a trip or a vacation there are some of the things that you must know.

If you have a tattoo's make sure you cover with long clothing.

  Make sure you cut your beard to show respect to the Japanese people.

Origami making

Today our teacher lend us some time to make origami in our Japan class I have been busy making origami and I enjoyed it some of it was a bit to hard and some were easy.

Kimono

Today in September the 26 2019
me and my class have been going back to our Japanese learning over the 10th week.
But today it has been kinda different, our teacher is an expert at Japan so she brought  along  her Kimono from Japan which means cloths to wear. So she told us all about how to put them on and how cool and the amazing job that the people had put their self's into making these kimono. So I thought I would try one on. For the ladies kimono they have a spaces in their arm bit  but the boys/Men don't.

This week I have learned about financial literacy and
because we have Prep. I have personally learned all about
taxes, wages, budgets and so on. Our class has also been working
on our maths sheets about Financial literacy: spending money
and saving them.

And today I'm going to teach you some of the things you could
do with money.

Wages

Wages  are money that you earn or the payment that you get
from your work, business and part time jobs and any job you do.
And all those money or wages are from the government.

  Tax

Tax is all about giving  money away, like if you get money from your
work and the government take half of your money so that  they
would use it to fix the road/new roads, schools and your public
properties .

Cash

Cash are money and coins that everybody uses for shopping
paying stuff for your house, petrol for your car, renting things
and anything that are for sale.

I have learned so many things in Financial Literacy and

because of my smart teacher that helped me with my learning,
with my future of using money
and saving them. It also helped me with all the complicated
words, and now I think I understand
them all. 

I hope you understand my teachings  and can help you with your
money too.

Dream catcher

In this term in Grey Main School we are been working on our project for PrEp. We have decide to do a dream catcher and a book mark. So our teacher set up a task for us to do an instruction of how to make our project. Here's my instruction of how to make a dream catcher.

Then he shared it with us. Then me and Lochy started putting in some more details and designing on it, we have tried so hard to make our design relate to the future and hey we've here's it what it looks like.

  This week in T4 we have been focusing  on our geometry work that we have done over the pass few weeks. Now we have been creating our own street map, we enjoyed doing it together, it took some time and some of us have finished and some of us have not finished.  I'm one of them that finished! Grans Growing Potion

MY READING ROTATION.

Reading Rotation.

Over the last four weeks we have been learning all lort of new things and new amazing words in our reading rotation it was really fun working with my group The fantastic 10 or 9 or also the rainbow readers.

In the first book we have been reading about Logging loading and all sorts of things about ships and wood and how to place them down nicely. We have also been learning about what people do and night what time they start and machines that pinked up woods.

The second book me and the fantastic 10 or 9 group have been reading about trees turning into logs. As we read the book we could see that it was completely hard work to turn trees into logs we’ve been learning many new awesome words and places that they could go.

On the third book that we read was TOO Easy. This book is all about the future there are different kinds of machines like say for example a hoverboard now thismay blow your mind. In our world now 2019 we have hoverboards that have 2 wheels but in the book it a skateboard but without wheels that can fly, and while we read this super duper fantastic book it gives me and idea that we should actually do things like that, like a mind printer it was also in the book you can think in your brain what you want to write and the printer does it for you.

Our last and final book that we read was the Perfect Shot to A DEER! Now this book is really funny at the end. As we read this book together I have also learned how to get a perfect shot when I go for hunting next time, it’s pretty helpful. Now let’s get into it i’ m getting ahead of my reading rotation. Me and my amazing group had learned all sorts of cool things and new words in this book. Well, the last bit of this story was funny because when we read this book I was awfully sad for the deer, I thought IT’S GOING TO DIE!!! But and the last page it showed us that the perfect shot was really a photo because I saw the picture of the deer on the wall.


ACTIVITIES LOGS

With our reading and learning we have also been doing activity in the first reading we had three. My first activity that I did was my planing log. Planning where the ships with logs of trees to make furniture to the places it needs to go.

The second task was that I did was word search, it took me like 5 min I it came out good and I found all the words.

My third activity to do with the story in the book. There are sentences in the book that was copied in a piece of paper we had to put it in order.


SECOND READING ACTIVITY.

TURNING TREES INTO LOGS

In my first activity I had to my word search first I had 5 min again to complete it.

My second one was putting the sentences in order it was easy we’ll a little bit. The 3 one was putting the words in the story in the order in the activity paper.


THIRD ACTIVITY.

TOO EASY.

In the third activity in Too easy that I did was word search it took me 4 min, it was fun most of the words we learned so much about them.

The 2 one was that we get to write sentences about the words in the paper ex like hoverboard.

And the fourth one was cutting and placing the sentences in order.


3 ACTIVITY.

THE PERFECT SHOT.

In the first activity I did the one that I have to cut and place them in order in my book.The 2 one was the word search it took me like 4 min again.

The last one was to write our speech.

I learned so many new things and new words in our reading rotation with my fantastic group, the fantastic 10 or 9 and our amazing Teacher Abi Gully - Mrs Gully she helped us a lot, without her we wouldn’t have been lost in the middle of nowhere! I love reading books, it helps me and my group.

Camp Hanmer Springs

 Last week on Wednesday I went on camp with my class to Hanmer Springs. It took 2 and  half hours, when we got there, there  were other classes there, T1 and T2 we got out  and we ate lunch. Ten minutes later we went and got our sleeping bag and took it in our room. My room was the first room then our teacher said to get ready for our first activity. We went mountain biking it was a amazing and lots of fun after the whole activity.
We went to the hot pools, it was my first time there we were there for 3 hours. Later on we went back to the campsite got to our rooms and got out our plates and cups, then we rushed to  dinner. We had the big kitchen after dinner and then we did a quiz. My group won the quiz. Here is a photo of my group.

Today is April fools day and I mean the prank day.

I woke up and thought for a minute what day is today? As soon as I

said that, my brother opened my door and said “ ITS APRIL FOOLS

DAY DAAHH “Wait what” AHH YEAH! For a minute my brothers

face looked very suspicious “ What are you looking at?”, he started

to laugh at my face, I got out off my bed and went to take a look in

the mirror “ AHHHHHH!” My face was like a ugly animal, with a

mustache drawn on me and words saying ITS APRIL FOOLS DAY!

Ahh he got me. I think he did that when I was sleeping, I need to do

something. I knew  something that my brother likes his favourite

snack orioles. I got down stairs and told mum if there’s any ariols left

“mum is there any orioles left WHY? I hope your not pulling any

pranks today because I cleaned the house yesterday, so better not

make a mess! or else your going to get in a very big  trouble, “ Don’t

worry mum I won’t” “ fine there’s some in the bantry. YES! Finally

my turn to prank my big brother. I went upstairs to the bathroom and

got out a toothpaste, I opened the cuki and took out the cream and

put it in the toothpaste after that I went downstairs and put the in the

bantry I start to laugh. OH NO! My brothers coming better hide or

he’ll find me I ran around the house, went upstairs to my room  and

hided under my bed.

What happened to my brother.

When I was under my bed I heard my brothers voice screaming AHH

he sounded like a little mouse yelling for help. I slowly got out under

my bed and went downstairs “ MUM! MUM! What is this thing in my

favorite snake” “I don’t know” said mum. OH NO! I knew that my

mum knew that I had orioles before I  hope she's not going to tell I ran

downstairs nearly fell over and cry but no way I could fell I heard my

mum said “I think its was your little brother”, “ Oh NO! Why MUM

in a very silence voices “ WHAT!” said my brother “OH THAT

LITTLE RAT. I’m going to get him, “ Oh dear”, I ran outside the

house the door made a noise “A HHH found you little brother” HE

ran outside the house and I found looking very scared, my brothers

face looked angry “ Hi” I said  He gives me a hand and said, well

done your first prank went well “Happy fools day Little brother”,

Happy fools day big brother.

Book review.

Title : Koala Lou .

Author: By Mem Fox.  

The characters of this book are the - The emu, the platypus, Tough Koala Claws,

The main problem  of the story is that everytime koala lou’s Mother is  busy looking after the other baby koala’s and she never has time for koala Lou.

This book is a about a soft round cuddly baby koala name Koala Lou and everyone adores her. But Koala Lou is very unhappy. Her mother is too busy  caring for the other baby koalas to have time to spend with her. She made a plan to win the mothers attention but it did not work out good.
